Bursary Requirements

If you want to apply for a bursary, you need to show that you are eligible by ensuring that:

  • You have not received any other bursary or assistance
  • You are pursuing a course of study in a discipline that will benefit the Financial services Industry
  • You are registered at a recognised Tertiary Education Institution in South Africa
  • You are a Pan African citizen

Fields of study

The purpose of the programme is to provide financial support to university students studying on a full-time basis towards one of the qualifications listed below:

Bachelor or postgraduate degree in:

  • Accounting (towards CA(SA) or CIMA or ACCA)
  • Actuarial Sciences
  • Mathematical Sciences
  • Informatics
  • Statistics
  • Risk or Investment management
  • Agricultural Sciences majoring in one of the following:
    • Animal science with Agricultural Economics
    • Soil science with Agricultural Economics
    • Horticulture with Agricultural Economics
    • Viticulture with Agricultural Economics
    • Agronomy with Agricultural Economics
    • Plant production with Agricultural Economics
  • Engineering (Industrial OR Financial OR Process)

What does the bursary include?

  • 100% of the prescribed university tuition fees, registration fees and exams fees.
  • An amount equal to the average rate for accommodation in a single room at a university residence at the university at which students is studying.
  • An amount for meals based on three meals per day.
  • An amount towards books is given to each student per annum.

Qualifications

Qualifying Criteria for Postgraduate and/or Undergraduate Applicants

Applicants must:

  • be studying full-time for the 2013 academic year at an accredited South African university towards one of the qualifications listed above
  • undergraduate or postgraduate students must have achieved a minimum aggregate of 70% in the first semester of their degree studies for the 2012 academic year
  • have no criminal record

Qualifying Criteria for 2012 Matriculant Applicants

Applicants must:

  • have achieved a minimum aggregate of 80% for the June 2012 examinations
  • be studying full-time for the 2013 academic year at an accredited South African university
  • have no criminal record
