Altech has grown itself a reputable standing in the information technology sector as an employer with exceptional opportunities for talented individuals.Therefore, the Altech Academy Bursary Scheme is highly competitive in nature.  It is a talent-based scheme aimed at attracting and retaining exceptional individuals.Preference is given to candidates with an exceptional academic record and those individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who meet our minimum requirements.The number of bursaries awarded per annum depends on the operational needs of the business.Altech is a technology company and, as a result, the majority of bursaries awarded are in electronic engineering and computer science.Applications for Altech Academy Bursaries are invited annually.

Altech offers a number of bursaries to persons who wish to engage in tertiary study with a view to obtaining undergraduate degrees through to postgraduate research. Currently, Altech is not offering bursaries for technikon studies.

Bursaries are awarded in the following fields of study:

  • Electrical / Electronic Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Accounting (CA Option)

Qualification
Any person with an appropriate qualification is eligible to be considered for a bursary, provided that their academic achievements satisfies the requirements of Altech and ensures admission to an appropriate South African institution.

Entry requirements
The bursary scheme is open to students who are entering their second, third and fourth year of studies. This is a talent-based scheme aimed at attracting and retaining exceptional individuals.

Value
The value of the bursary covers registration, tuition, books and residence fees. Bursars who do not stay in an official residence are entitled to the equivalent amount in lieu of the cost of residence applicable to the particular institution. The bursary is awarded for the length of the prescribed Degree, but reviewed on an annual basis, based on academic performance.

Commitment
The bursar has to remain in the service of Altech for a continuous period on a one-on-one basis i.e. 12 months service for each academic year that the bursar is supported, and the bursar will on an annual basis do minimum six weeks vocational work during his/her period of study in Altech.

Correspondence will only be conducted with candidates who reach the short list. Applicants who have not received a letter of acknowledgement within two months of the closing date can assume that they were not short listed for an interview and are hereby thanked for their application.
