Reports to: Country Manager for South Africa
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Drive centrally agreed forecasted and budgeted sales volumes through local carrier partners.
To use available trading, retail programme marketing and other relevant data to deliver agreed objective.
Deliver an agreed level of Apple branding through our carrier partners.

 

Key Qualifications

•The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of growing a carrier relationship in a similar role as a National or Global Account Manager at a handset manufacturer. They will also have multiple retail channel management experience, including channel development skills, and have the ability to interact at senior to operational levels across all selected channel partners.

•Familiar with the South African retail, telecom and distributor landscape and modus operandi.

•In addition, this individual should have the “will to win” and the energy and drive to embrace this significant challenge. This should include an excellent reputation and extensive contacts within the wireless community.

•The ideal candidate must be an astute business person who has the intellectual capability to explore new consumer and commercial opportunities in the market.

•Ideally educated to degree level, this individual must be a good presenter at all levels, and who can negotiate successfully with key accounts.

•He/ she must have a team-oriented approach to driving business and ideally be familiar with working for an international company in a matrix type environment.

•Candidate to be fully fluent in spoken and written English.

 

Key competencies:
Achieving results – the local Carrier Account Manager must ensure that the centrally agreed volume targets are achieved.
Setting own agenda – the Local Carrier Manager must have a clear agenda for the role and must be capable of working under their own initiative in developing and implementing the required go-to-market strategy, follow-up with a business plan by account.
Persuasive communication – strong ability to influence and convince others internally and externally of the ideal go-to-market strategy for South Africa and needs and demands of the selected business partners.
Influencing and negotiation – a proven track record of negotiation at senior level within sales environment of centrally set Ts&Cs.
Creativity – the need for flexibility and creativity in proposing new and different solutions to existing solutions.

Description

•Ownership of all trading relationships with a carrier partner at National Head Office as well as regional level within South Africa.
•To deliver budgeted / targeted sales in centrally authorised carrier channels.
•All aspects of the account forecasting requirements to deliver Account budgets and objectives in line with country objectives.
•To manage the Terms via the centrally agreed process and channel programme marketing budgets.
•To deliver an integrated account plan in line with EMEA business plan, retail programme objectives and product launch strategy.
•To deliver a continual programme of best practice for the Apple brand in all agreed Key Accounts, which ensures that all products have maximum exposure and deliverance against agreed channel programme branding.
•Work with the EMEA Telco team on local implementation of training initiatives and merchandising solutions.
•Liaise with the local channel program manager on retail programme implementation.
•Work with the indirect channel manager on strategic plans for non-carrier/non-telco specialist channels.
•Feed back to EMEA team on competitor behaviour and price plan positioning.

 

Success in this role will be measured by:

Centrally set sales volume targets by product through the carrier and other authorised channels.
Sales and Marketing Investment and Marketing Development Fund budgets – to deliver against centrally agreed budgets in conjunction with finance and Channel Programme Manager.
Product forecast accuracy against each key product sector against account portfolio.
The ability to adapt with an evolving business partner strategy.
Networking through all sectors of the accounts.
The quality of management reporting, relationship building and leveraging of resources across the Apple matrix.
Brand delivery and exposure in all nominated accounts.

 

Education

Ideally educated to degree level.
