M-Net seeks to appoint a suitably qualified individual to assume responsibility as Archivist: Research Intern.

Preference will be given to EE candidates

This person will report to the Manager Research and Metadata Administration and will be based at our offices in Randburg.

The Archivist: Research Intern will be responsible for the effective M-Net Television Archive client services to ensure optimal client satisfaction.

The strategic intent of the Media Information Management business unit is the successful media asset management administration, the implementation of processing of all commissioned content to ensure long-term preservation, the timely receipt and delivery of all broadcast related content with a focus on improved client services.

The Archivist: Research Intern will work with the Media Coordinators, Archivists and Video Librarians to ensure successful client service delivery and will be required to continuously improve services and ensure client satisfaction.

The Archivist: Research Intern will furthermore be required to regularly meet and work with all major stakeholders, internally and externally to ensure optimum service delivery.

    • Business units within M-Neto M-Net Media Operations
    • M-Net Television Archives
    • M-Net Video Library
    • M-Net General Entertainment channels
    • M-Net Movies channels
    • M-Net Special Interest channels
    • M-Net Africa channelso M-Net Group Content Services business units, including business units within the Media Operations structure.

    • MultiChoiceo BTD engineering
    • Production houses providing M-Net owned content
    • Supersport Media Solutionso Ardome Media Asset Management (MAM)

      OUTPUTS The outputs are critical to the successful operation of the Client Services (Requests & Research) business unit. The outputs include the following:

      • The efficient and effective execution of client requests and timely responses to enquiries and requests
      • Ensuring no unattended customer queries/complaints,
      • Full compliance to copyright and rights management issues and advise client of royalty free / rights cleared content for re-use and/or re-purposing purposes
      • Effective quality control of relevant activities to meet client expectations
      • Provide a comprehensive and customer orientated multi-media research and archive service for M-Net customers making use of online, external and multi-media resources and digital server technology.
      • Liaise with the Television Archives and Media Co-ordinators to ensure consistent and relevant selection and archiving of content.
      • Search, retrieve and prepare required clips for clients and facilitate on-site pre-viewing of footage if required.
      • Provide a pro-active, comprehensive research and advisory service to M-Net channels and clients
      • In-depth content searches and relevant research for channels and clients i.t.o. available archive footage and information
      • Ensure optimal customer satisfaction

KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant 3 year graduate and/or post-graduate degree/ national diploma in Information & Knowledge Management; Media Studies/ Dramatic Arts/ Audio-visual related qualification
  • An excellent understanding of customer service/service excellence
  • Passion for the media industry
  • Knowledge of Copyright Laws and Rights Management will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of pre and post-production environment including video editing will be an advantage
