Barclays Bank runs a challenging training programmes which allow you to explore all areas of our business. Through our Accounting training programme (ATP); we provide SAICA, ACCA and CIMA training for accounting trainees who want to qualify as Chartered Accountants (CA) (SA), Accredited Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and Chartered Management Accountants (CMA).
Acceptance onto the Accounting Training Programme entitles you as a prospective trainee; to develop business acumen, life skills and professional and ethical values. You will establish important networks with business unit leadership and line managers to prepare you in planning your future career path.

Our trainees are appointed on a fixed term training contract. Academic bonuses and increases may be awarded on an annual basis, based on individual and academic performance. Our trainees qualify for study and normal leave.
Every trainee will receive guidance on professional development from a dedicated personal mentor.

We provide a fertile training ground for both technical and professional skills required by SAICA, ACCA and CIMA.
As a trainee; you will be based at our Head Office in Johannesburg CBD with rotation to business units within the Absa Group, including Corporate Investment Banking and Wealth (CIBW), Absa Internal Audit, Group Tax, Group Finance, Retail Bank, Group Treasury and other business units in the financial Group in Gauteng that are able to provide the required levels of experience.
The rotation ensures exposure to different technical areas and specialist business units; where you will be supervised by highly qualified professionals. This will allow you to establish which area of specialisation you would like to follow after completing your training period.
