In this role you will need to ensure compliance with BHP Billiton commitment to Zero Harm, which will include demonstrating a record of uncompromised values of Safety and the Environment, Integrity, High Performance, Win-Win Relationships, Courage to lead change and Respect for each other. Your ability to plan, organise, lead and control as well as delivering results through meeting customer expectations will ensure success in this role.
The purpose of your role is to be accountable for the development and execution of local strategy and systems in line with the organisation’s values, policies, procedures, mandates and country legislation. The incumbent will also be responsible to provide specialised services to the Operations that are aggregated at this level, and ensure compliance with South African legislation addressing community development and transformation. The role liaises with relevant regulatory authorities and coordinates internal communication and external stakeholder management. There will be reporting on matters in line with Group Company and applicable country legislation. Leading a highly skilled, specialist team and to manage and deliver large-scale, discipline diverse projects.
Serious contenders will have relevant Mining related tertiary qualification with 10 years relevant experience on Operational and Asset level, of which 3 years must be at a senior management level. Candidates having an advanced business / finance related degree (MBA) will be desirable in this role; as well as experience in South African mining industry is essential. Understanding of the nature of opportunities and issues faced by operations; ability to identify and assess key investment risk factors and project execution problems at an early stage is a requirement together with a proven ability to demonstrate influence, negotiation, strategic skills and drive for results.
