Role Synopsis
To provide a service to the Logistics Function to ensure that BP’s Bulk Vehicle Fleet is maintained so that they operate safely and cost effectively.
4. Key Results/ Accountabilities expected from role

•Ensure that all group HSSE policies, standards, practices and procedures are strictly adhered to as they pertain to staff, vehicles and workshops.
•Repair & maintain BP owned bulk vehicles according to the Vehicle Maintenance Plan, and where no such plan exists to develop one in conjunction with Depot Manager(s).
•Respond rapidly & safely to bulk vehicle breakdowns and accidents.
•Ensure that BP owned bulk vehicles & workshop as well as BP fleet staff meet statutory requirements.
•Adhere strictly to maintenance budgets & where deviations are necessary, obtain approval.
•Procure spare parts and tools through the Fleet Manager and Procurement Department.
•Participate actively in developing the annual transport plan / budget especially as it applies to fleet maintenance.
•Complete fleet administration such as job cards, cost control sheets & time sheets, etc.
•To ensure that regular inspections of workshop operations are carried out, and that remedial action is taken as required
•Be the SPA (single point of accountability) for issuing safe loading pass to both all vehicles loading at a particular depot.


Key accountabilities
To ensure all own vehicles operate in a safe, legal and roadworthy conditions at all times
To ensure vehicles are fit for purpose within the monetary / economic constraints of the business
Scheduling preventative maintenance within the constraints of vehicle availability

Essential Education
Trade test certificate in vehicle maintenance (Diesel Mechanic)

Essential experience and job requirements
3 – 5 years relevant working experience

Desirable criteria & qualifications
Trade test certificate in vehicle maintenance (Diesel Mechanic)
