Through a network of 35 offices in 5 continents (Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Australia) we currently second nearly 4,000 Technical Engineering Specialists to the largest multi-national Oil & Gas Companies and major EPC Contractors, through well established global supply agreements.

Organisation

Client is a dynamic and global company that unlocks the value in its resources by using its unique UCG process to convert coal into cost effective syngas as feedstock for its modular UCG to GTL liquid fuels production in an environmentally sustainable manner so as to provide wealth and energy independence for future generations.

Job description

•Identify and develop commercial opportunities.

•Assess various opportunities – quantify value and opportunity.

•Work to confirm the detail and requirements (market, commercial risks, regulatory, infrastructure, technical etc) of commercial projects and opportunities

•Negotiate key commercial agreements and contracts as required, including long-term supply agreements. Ensure that such arrangements are cost effective and competitive and meet the range of future business plans

•Develop project implementation plans as appropriate. Manage and coordinate implementation as required. Secure input from wider business resources as required.

•Develop and maintain effective relations with governments and regulators as required where specifically related to project and business opportunity development.

•Work with regulatory bodies to ensure a smooth approvals process is obtained

•Manage a range of commercial transactions from small to complex as directed by the CEO.

•Maintain long-term relationships with potential business partners, government officials, and service providers

•Work collaboratively with the global Linc Business Development team

•Effectively manage strategic industry relationships and networks to maximize opportunities for the business

•Assist the CEO on special projects and other commercial matters as required

•Provide strong leadership to Client’s corporate culture and image including areas such as health, safety and the environment.

Job requirements

Minimum 10 years commercial experience in a similar or related industry in South Africa (resources, petroleum, mining and/or power generation)

Project development experience (5+ years)

Must understand the technical fundamentals of the various upstream and downstream processes in the coal, electricity and/or hydrocarbons industries

Has a network of business professionals and government officials in South Africa (and Southern Africa would be advantageous) that can be called upon to assist the delivery of commercial deals

Knows political players and senior bureaucrats in the South African (and Southern Africa) governments, departments and quasi-government entities

Understands all relevant legislation in the power, mining & minerals, and hydrocarbons industries and how the political processes within governments are influencing our interests

Proficient in identifying business opportunities that are worth pursuing

Good understanding of either or both coal and hydrocarbons geology

Has had exposure to both exploration and operating assets in the coal and or hydrocarbons industries

A strong competence in English is essential, however Multilingual skills would be an advantage but are not essential

Highly developed commercial acumen including financial and budgetary analysis skills

Significant experience in negotiating and managing commercial contracts and agreements

Experience in working with the South African Government and Government departments
