Liberty has the following bursary and graduate opportunities students are encouraged to apply.

Bursaries are granted for full-time study of Actuarial Science at various tertiary institutions.

Applicants must show the ability to innovate and share our passion for people; thus maintaining our competitive advantage.

Successful applicants are expected to do a minimum amount of vacation work during the June and December holidays at Liberty Life’s Head Office in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

Bursaries are reviewed after each examination based on the student’s academic performance and are renewed annually.

All bursaries are granted on merit, but preference is given to black (African, Coloured and Indian) applicants.

At Liberty, we know how important actuarial skills are and provide many exciting career opportunities to actuarial professionals and students, across the full spectrum of our fast-growing operations.

One hundred and seventy six actuarial staff members, of whom 64 are Fellows of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) are currently employed.

Ongoing support, in the form of further study opportunities, the arranging of actuarial conferences and administrative support is provided by the company’s Actuarial Development Programme.

We have actuarial staff members from graduate level to Executive Directors working in areas ranging from traditional life insurance and pensions, to banking and finance roles.

Functions include product development, health, asset management, pensions, consultancy and financial solutions.
