Roles & outcomes:
• Responsible for the design and scoping of solution;
• Lead Category 2 and 1 Projects;
• Lead participator in research and development initiatives;
• Conforming to design standards;
• Mentor to senior and junior staff;
• Engage in the operations divisions to understand how solutions are performing;
• Assist in troubleshooting complex problems;
• Offers formal or informal training in his/her subject.

Knowledge, skills and competencies:
Essential (must have):
• Relevant technical knowledge and experience;
• Methodologies (MOF 4.0, MSF, ITIL v3, SDLC, TOGAF);
• Expert knowledge in three or more technologies;
• Microsoft Infrastructure technologies, i.e. MS Exchange 2003, 2007, 2010; MS Active Directory; MS SCOM; MS SCCM;
• Microsoft Licensing;
• Product trends and developments;
• Interpersonal skill and mentoring;
• Presales, Proposals and Writing skills;
• Attention to detail.
Desirable (Nice to have):
• Microsoft Infrastructure Architecture and Strategy;
• Microsoft Business Productivity (SharePoint 2007, 2010; Microsoft Business Intelligence);
• Project Management;
• Expert presentation skills.

Education & experience required:
Education:
• Grade 12, plus relevant diploma or degree NQF Level 5/6;
• Require more technical than management technical skills but is regarded as a technical manager;
• Strong design skills are required to be able to evaluate how a solution will interact with the environment. (People, Process and Technology);
• Need to understand the prevailing standards that are prevalent in the ICT sector.
• Must hold the following Microsoft Certifications:
– Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS);
– Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP);
– Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE);
– Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) – for development COP;
– Microsoft Certified Master (MCM) – Preferable.
Experience:
• 8-12 years of consulting or relevant work experience.
