CA/SA Group Financial Manager position
Based in Sandton CBD – Gauteng
A leading and reputable law firm in South Africa is seeking an experienced and results driven Group Financial Manager (CA/SA essential) with 8yrs Senior Financial Management skills. The incumbent will be required to oversee the South African and Kenyan financial operation.
The successful candidate must have:
• Matric
• CA (SA)
• 8 Years + financial management experience in a medium to large corporate / financial services environment
• ERP experience
• Up-to-date knowledge of IFRS and taxation
• Computer literacy
• Able to work flexible hours
• Able to work overtime from time to time as the need arises

Your busy and challenging day will include but not limited to:
Africa (Kenya and other)
• Management accounts,
• Tax (VAT, Withholding, normal tax etc),
• Managing staff (Oversee Kenya staff in-conjunction with Manager in Kenya,
• Ensure that appropriate, best practice, internal controls are in place
• Other investigations for Africa i.e. model build etc
SA/Kenya/Cape Town/JHB
• GL and sub ledger
o Overall responsibility for GL – ensure appropriate, best practice, controls are in place to ensure that amounts are valid, accurate and complete
o Understand 3E
o Manage support staff, specifically creditors and general accounts staff
o Ensure procedures are in place and maintained to ensure that information is captured by your staff timeously
o Provide the required leadership to creditors/ general support staff
o Liaise with Finance IT staff to ensure system is functioning to full function
• YE – SA/Kenya
o Liaise with auditors for YE purposes ensuring that appropriate/detailed work plans are in place to ensure process completed on time,
o Manage and provide direction to appropriate staff during this process
o Draft financials (all companies) in accordance with IFRS,
o Other
• Company secretarial
o Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained,
o Draft required resolutions for review,
o Attend meetings and maintain register
• Trust- SA/Kenya
o Ensure appropriate controls are in place to safeguard client funds,
o Report, under supervision, to the various law societies,
o Provide direction to staff on all Trust issues,
o Manage staff appropriately (performance etc),
o Have appropriate knowledge on legislation governing all trust aspects i.e. attorneys act and various law society rules
o Perform quarterly reviews on trust accounts ensuring that we are not in breach of any legislation or rules
• Benefits section – SA/Kenya
o Understand model used – in-depth knowledge,
o Ensure appropriate controls are in place to ensure accuracy, validity and completeness of data,
o Provide direction to staff on all issues relating to partner benefits,
o Ensure that you have appropriate knowledge to update model with required legislative changes i.e. tax etc
o Attend to partner queries
• Taxes – SA/Kenya
o Ensure appropriate knowledge on all tax legislation,
o By performing regular internal reviews ensure that documentation are in line with revenues requirements,
o Provisional, YE and dividend tax computations performed/reviewed
o Resolve all SARS/ KRS related queries timeously,
o Ensure appropriate relationships are formed with our bankers,
o Ensure that all approval lists are maintained and updated,
o Review on a regular basis if best banking practices are followed from a controls perspective,
o Ensure that all unallocated funds are recorded and appropriate lists are maintained
• Other
o Cost contribution calculations – understanding and providing direction
o Manage accounts- ensure that all amounts are accurate, valid and complete (BS and IS)
o Review all analytical analysis performed on manage accounts and ensure reasonable,
o Review cash forecasts and ensure the appropriateness of the assumptions applied,
o Review monthly profitability reports and ensure reasonableness thereof
