The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system’s designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP’s Division of Regional Cooperation (DRC) helps to implement UNEP’s global programs in the regions by initiating, coordinating and catalyzing regional and sub-regional cooperation and action in response to environmental problems and emergencies. This position is located in the Regional Office for Africa (ROA) in the United Nations Environment Programme, Division of Regional Cooperation at the Pretoria duty station.

Objective: The job holder represents CBM in the region, develops and implements CBM’s Regional Disability and Development Strategy, establishes, maintains and runs the Regional Office.

The Emergencies Preparedness Capacity Advisor will support ActionAid country programmes in Africa and Latin America to put comprehensive, dynamic, emergency/conflict preparedness plans and systems into place that are signed off by their Senior Management Teams (SMTs) and National Boards (where applicable).
ActionAid Africa is seeking to recruit interns who have interest in Finance, IT or Administration. Interested candidates must have at least a first degree in relevant area of study.
The Internship program is expected to begin in April 2011, and last for 3 to 6 months.
