CHAI Laboratory Analyst Jobs

CHAI is seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials, analytical ability, and communication skills to support the CHAI Swaziland programme in its activities to ensure patients have access to high quality, efficient laboratory services by supporting the National Clinical Laboratory Services to strengthen their ability to manage equipment and supplies, ensuring the continuous availability of diagnostic services in the country.  The Laboratory Analyst will also support the NCLS in developing financial and operational analysis to inform decision making on the optimisation of diagnostic services and the introduction of new products and services as required.

Responsibilities:

• Strengthen the capacity of the NCLS to utilize and manage robust forecasting and supply planning practices for laboratory commodities
• Develop tools to assist the NCLS to validate, rationalize and make efficient use of data to inform purchasing and improve supply-chain management and performance
• Assist the NCLS to develop financial and operational analysis to support decision making on the cost-effectiveness of current and future testing options
• Support NCLS to implement the roll-out of new testing services, such as viral load, or to identify and overcome barriers to scale up of existing services as required
• Support the NCLS to improve linkages with healthcare programmes to strengthen communication and evaluation of how programmatic changes will impact the demand for laboratory services, and to advocate for sufficient resources to meet these needs
• Support the NCLS, in collaboration with other partners, to standardise laboratory equipment and improve contracting practices to ensure access to the best prices and efficient use of resources
• Support the NCLS, in collaboration with partners, to develop a long term strategic plan
• Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

Required:
• BA plus 3-5 years of work experience
• Fluency in English; excellent written and oral communications skills
• Strong problem-solving skills, including excellent analytical and financial modeling capabilities
• Detail-oriented with strong organization skills
• Ability to navigate complex government processes and favorably influence decision-making in a diplomatic and collaborative manner
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work independently and flexibly with a strong commitment to excellence
• Ability to be effective in high-pressure situations and work in a fast-paced environment with limited-structure
• Awareness of challenges related to working in a resource-limited setting and willingness to learn in a culturally diverse work environment
• High level of proficiency in relevant computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Advantages:
• Experience working in public procurement and supply chain management
• A background in management consulting, finance or similar profession
• Experience working with clinical laboratories, especially laboratory procurement or equipment management
• Experience living and/or working in developing countries
• Familiarity with global health issues
