CHIEF AGRICULTURAL LEGISLATION INSPECTOR 4 POSTS REF NO:
235/2014

SALARY : R227 802 per annum
CENTRE : Bloemfontein (Free State) (3 Posts) and (KwaZulu-Natal) (1 Post)

 

REQUIREMENTS : Applicants must be in possession of a National diploma/degree in Agriculture
with Animal Nutrition, Animal Health, Plant Pathology and/or Crop Production as
a major subject(s) (you are required to furnish a credit certificate and/or
statement of results). Knowledge of and experience in factory inspections and
agricultural law enforcement. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
(GMP) and application of the Criminal Procedure Act, 1977 (Act 51 of 1977) and
the Fertilizer, Farm Feeds, Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act, 1947
(Act 36 of 1947). Ability to participate in team projects and have a positive
attitude towards the inspections and application of relevant legislation. Good
communication (written and verbal) skills. Computer skills in MS Office software.
A valid driver’s licence and the ability to drive. Willingness to travel and be away
from home in the execution of duties.

 

DUTIES : The incumbent will be responsible for law enforcement in terms of the applicable
Acts, in conjunction with the Department of Justice and Constitutional
Development (DoJCD) within the Framework and in line with the strategic goals
of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF). Carry out
effective and efficient routine inspections and create awareness of the Fertilizer,
Farm Feeds, Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act, 1947. Take
samples, statements and other evidence material to compile a case docket
according to the prescripts of the Act(s). Investigate offences of the Act, attend
court cases, present evidence and demonstrate a sound knowledge of GMP
practices. Effective control over exhibits in terms of the Criminal Procedure Act,
1977. Attend meetings, training sessions and discussions with clients and State
Prosecutors. Assist and train sub-ordinates in the execution of their duties.
