The Children’s Hospital Trust was founded in 1994 as the independent Fundraising Arm of the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital when the Hospital was threatened with closure due to lack of funding. Since its inception the Trust has supported the Hospital through upgrading its buildings, purchasing vital equipment and funding critical training and research programmes.

The Trust seeks to appoint a Communications Intern based in Cape Town.

The Intern will offer support to the communications department in developing planning and coordinating marketing initiatives including primarily publicity, patient stories, video material, marketing material and online media and when needed events, cause related marketing campaigns and promotions to meet the key objectives of the Children’s Hospital Trust including income generation, donor acquisition and brand awareness.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable car
  • Matric
  • English written and spoken language skills
  • PC Literacy
  • Diploma or Degree in Advertising or Brand Management or Marketing or Public Relations
  • Concise, coherent and accurate communication (written, verbal and presentation)
  • Ability to maintain good media or stakeholder or 3rd party relationships
  • Understanding of newsworthiness and editorial angles
  • Ability to convert information into creative or written concepts
  • Relationship building and networking skills
  • Ability to multi-task, project manage and prioritise
  • Creative thinking out of the box and open to new ideas and innovative ways of working
  • Organisational skills
  • Flexibility and positive attitude with a willingness to go the extra mile time management
  • Event coordination experience
  • Community spirit and social awareness
  • Work well under pressure
