Role SynopsisAir BP is the aviation division of BP and one of the world’s largest suppliers of aviation fuel products and services.

Our experts provide a complete aviation fuel consultancy service, including the design, build and operation of aviation fuelling facilities.
Our many customers range from domestic and international airlines, the military, business and private aircraft owners, as well as international airports and airfield operators. In 2013, through our direct operations, we fuelled more than 6,400 flights every day – that’s over four every minute.

In Southern Africa, Air BP maintains a presence across a network of at least 15 airport / airfield locations which are manage both directly and indirectly.

The purpose of the role is to provide leadership and direction on safety and the development and delivery of the growth strategy in support of both the PU (MEA) and SPU objectives.

Key accountabilitiesHSSE and operational standards: Accountable to the MEA PU Leader for safety and operations performance and compliance with Air BP standards and regulations. Air BP in Southern Africa has direct operations in 2 countries enabling representation at 15 airports in the region. This is an S&OR critical role having accountabilities for Safety & Operations in the cluster. Specific responsibilities will include : The Cluster Manager (CM) is accountable for ensuring processes are in place to manage Air BP’s key operating risks and seek assurance that these are working as intended. Ensuring both Operations CAPEX and REVEX, including planning, implementation and control are effectively managed within country/cluster. The CM is accountable for ensuring HSSE aspects of the operation are managed in accordance with BP and Air BP procedures and in compliance with OMS. The CM is accountable for ensuring that a competent Product Quality Assurance Organisation exists within cluster / country.

The CM shall support the Global Engineering and Projects Manager; the Regional Engineering Leader and the Cluster/Country Operations Manager to deliver BU specific Procedures, Standards and Practices, within the cluster/country, helping to provide assurance on the engineering elements of OMS. The CM is accountable for ensuring the appropriate resources are in place for the management and maintenance of all fixed and mobile equipment within the country. The CM represents the company in all JV matters attends all JV Board meetings. Or for ensuring that the appropriate delegated personnel are competent to carry out these roles People management: accountable for meeting Group and Air BP requirements in managing people and in fostering a culture of innovation, empowerment, enthusiasm and teamwork. S/he will be expected to provide the means by which each country in the cluster and the broader PU takes the widest possible view of opportunities available and maximises cross-border co-operation. Essential EducationRelevant Commercial Degree / Diploma + at least 10 years experience in the Oil Industry. A post Graduate qualification eg an MBA would be advantageous.

Essential experience and job requirementsExcellent commercial and general business management skills; Experience in extracting maximum value from mature and developing markets; Clear experience in establishing and maintaining a culture of high HSSE standards; Knowledge of the principles and commercial drivers of supply, trading and logistics; Ability to manage a business dispersed across a wide geographic area; Excellent leadership, team working and proven leadership skills; Excellent relationship, interpersonal, communication skills; Able to motivate and engage all levels of the organisation and earn credibility and respect of peers and line managers; Fluency in English essential
