The Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI) is an intergovernmental organisation that provides a platform for peer learning and exchange for African ministries of finance and planning.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

CABRI is contributing towards skills development by providing graduates and students with an opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a dynamic and high performance-driven team.

CABRI inviting applications for their Internship Scheme that would run for a period of six (6) months. The scheme provides an opportunity to unemployed graduates to gain meaningful experience that will complement their studies and gain access to the labour market.

Applicants will be exposed to various aspects in the field of communications (including marketing, events, stakeholder engagement) and would benefit candidates that are serious about pursuing their chosen path in communications, marketing and/or the non-profit field.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate will work closely with the Communications and Marketing Manager to support the various needs of the CABRI team, including raising the profile of the organisation in mainstream social media; writing and editing documents; advertising and marketing; and supporting the effective communication of CABRI events.

Tasks will include (not limited to) the following areas: 

  1. Social media:
  • Support in the drafting of monthly social media plans
  • Implement measures to increase social media following for CABRI Posting on Facebook and other social media
  1. Website: 
  • Upload documents and blogs to the PFM Knowledge Hub Implement Searchengine
  • Analysing web statistics to provide recommendations on how to improve content on the PFM Knowledge Hub
  1. Membership drive: 

Assisting the Communications manager in guiding countries through their accessionprocess (drafting letters, preparing accession packs)

  1. Event communications: 
  • Preparing and implementing event-specific communication plans and measures in close collaboration with the programme team
  • Ensuring corporate identity manual is followed
  • Preparing presentations and packs for participants Drafting ad-hoc social media posts during events
  • Engage with service providers to ensure the smooth communication operation during events (e.g. audio/video, translation etc.)
  • Procuring relevant marketing material for events
  1. Newsletter: 

Working with the CABRI team to prepare the monthly CABRI newsletter Review and finalise content into the newsletter with Manager

Preparing newsletter for distribution in CABRI’s 3 official languages

  1. Database:

Updating, optimising and enlarging CABRI’s database of African countries, partners and newsletter subscribers

Gathering data

  1. Publications:

Engaging with service providers during a publication process to ensure timelines are adhered to

Proof reading edited and typeset documents

  1. Corporate identity: 

Preparing template documents for various outputs to ensure the CABRI Corporate Identity is maintained

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3rd year student with related undergraduate degree
  • Passion for effective communication and utilizing various tools to deliver messaging Knowledge of Content Management Systems (preferably Craft)
  • Affinity for public finance management related topics
  • Excellent knowledge of utilising Social Media for organisations Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team The ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines
  • Ability to work independently
  • Dependability, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality Knowledge of photo, video and audio editing software is a plus
  • Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is advantageous

Location: Centurion, South Africa
Reporting to: Marketing and Communications Manager
Salary range: a stipend will be provided
Contract: 6 months
