WEAPONS ELECTRONIC ENG)

SALARY : OSD Salary Range: C.E.Tec-A R320 856 – R 791 574 per annum

CENTRE : Naval Engineering Section, Simon’s Town.
REQUIREMENTS : National Diploma in Engineering. Six Years post qualification technical
experience required and a valid Driver’s License. Special requirements: Proven
experience in a commercial shipyard / naval weapons electrical surface vessel
design environment. Knowledge of Class and IMO rules and regulations for
surface vessels is essential. Knowledge of naval surface vessel rules and naval
store’s procurement practices would be advantageous. Proven ability to write
specifications and statements of work is essential. Knowledge of refit procedures
would be advantageous. Knowledge of Procedures and Planning in a Design
environment is essential. Ability to compile and present technical reports in
English is essential. Proven problem solving skills and interpretation of analysis
is essential. Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCad / Caddie and MS Office suite
is essential. Proven strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Proven ability to
work under pressure and meet target dates. Knowledge of legal compliance.
People management. Statutory Requirement: Compulsory registration with ECSA
as a Professional Engineering Technician.

DUTIES : Supervising and leading the Weapons Electrical Section of the Support Vessel
Design Office. Controlling the Constructive Acceptance and Trial functions of the
Section. Controlling the Weapons Electrical element of the Support Vessel
Engineering Change (EC) and upgrade service. Controlling Weapons Electrical
Projects, tasks and fuctions of the Section. Managing and Organizing the
Weapons Electrical Section.

Organising the Marine Systems Section of the Section.
