Job Purpose
To develop, implement and establish a credit policy strategy for international trade in line with global best demonstrated practice and to manage, control, and co-ordinate the credit unit.

 

Duties
Develop, implement and establish a credit policy strategy for international trade.
Establish a rigorous credit risk and rating methodology to mitigate risk to SARS.
Develop strong and robust financial credit models.
Ensure in-depth financial interrogation, analysis and assessment of credit applications using import data, financial statements and third party data.
Determine sound and credible risk limits for clients.
Conduct regular reviews of clients credit limits.
Review and enhance the current policies and procedures of the credit policy.
Review and enhance the standard operating procedures (SOP) to enhance the productivity of credit granting activities.
Ensure integration between the financial credit model and SAP.
Establish reliable data sources.
Establish and maintain effective business relationships with internal customers and departments within SARS (debt unit, securities management unit, business systems and LAPD) to ensure accurate and informed business deliverables.
Ensure that all practices conform to SARS standards, policies and procedures.
Provide technical guidance to the unit on credit matters such as trends, research and analysis, legislative and policy changes.
Provide senior management with value-add MIS.
Utilise data analysis, triangulation of data sources and interpretation of data to provide factual and value information to senior management to make business decisions.
Monitor violations of credit policies and provide analysis and recommendations.
Conduct thorough analysis of previously identified audit findings and resolve and ensure no repeat findings.
Ensure no audit findings within credit unit.
Maximise output from available resources.
Develop productive working relationships with team members, team leaders and key role players in the business to support contracted targets.
Identify and resolve queries and problems timeously, apply discretion in line with process guidelines provided and escalate unresolved problems.
Provide strategic direction and management to the unit to ensure maximum performance and effective delivery of quality products and service

 

Minimum requirements
Matric
Bcom Finance/ Financial Management or Accounting or Advanced Diploma in Finance
5 – 7 years job experience
4 years industry experience.
3 or more years managerial experience
