QUANTITY SURVEYOR 2 POSTS REF NO: QS/ ETH/2015
SALARY : R444 738 per annum in line with the provisions of the Occupational Specific
Dispensation (OSD) for Engineers and Related Occupations
REQUIREMENTS : An appropriate Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying plus 3 years’ post
qualification experience gained in Quantity Surveying. Current registration with
the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession as a
Professional Quantity Surveyor. Computer literacy including Microsoft Word and
Excel. Valid Code EB drivers licence. RECOMMENDATIONS: Knowledge of
Project and Programme Management. The ability to liaise and co-operate with
key stake holders and Project Managers. Good verbal and written
communication skills.

DUTIES : Provide specialist support to project managers regarding Quantity Surveying
related matters. Coach and develop project managing skills in Quantity
Surveying activities. Scrutinising and compiling tender documentation and
provide advice on tender procedures and delegations to form a uniform basis for
inviting tenders. The preparation and facilitation of various Procurement and
Contract Administration submissions. Preparing and analysing estimates of
costs for projects and the application of cost planning and project management
milestone techniques to find the most economic and suitable means of execution
of projects. The co-ordination and control of performance of Consultant Quantity
Surveyors. Audit and approve Consultants fee accounts and payments to Main
Contractors, valuation of variation orders and preparation and agreement of final
accounts on completion of contracts. Assist Legal Services with legal matters
relating to building contracts. Assist in settling disputes with Contractors.
