Job Description:
• The design and layout of each assigned magazine
• Assisting the art director managing a sports design team of three
• Working with the editorial team to create each issue
• Planning, directing and guiding shoots and illustrations for all relevant articles
• Working closely with illustrators, stylists, photographers and models
• Picture sourcing from all relevant picture libraries
• Conceptualising shoots and illustrations
• Photo shoot art direction
• To report to the Creative Director on all relevant creative and operational issues
• Presenting any relevant layouts to client where needed
• Doing all relevant sign-offs at printers
• To partake in the ad placement before repro stage
• To oversee the budget on each publication
• To ensure the timely delivery of each issue
• To play an active part in the creation of a vibrant studio
• To collaborate with repro department and copy editing department in completing the magazine error free
• To foster a strong working relationship with the editor, thereby putting form to the editors’ synopsis
• To assist in all other forms of promotional material for the magazine i.e. rate cards, exhibition stands, supplements etc.

Requirements
• Strong interest in all sports, but especially rugby and cricket
• Strong command of Adobe CS3 design suite on Mac
• Fast, efficient designer
• Strong in typographical and graphic design
• Conceptualization
• Photo shoot experience
• Ability to handle multiple titles consecutively
• Experience in staff management and mentorship
