Bursaries in South Africa

A bursary refers to the financial assistance that the dti contributes for study expenses of serving, contract and prospective employees, towards their attaining formal qualifications through part-time or full-time studies. These studies can be conducted with any institution accredited by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and registered with the National Department of Education (DoE).

the dti offers several bursaries, and is particularly keen on supporting individuals in ‘scarce skills’ areas, such as Economics, Econometrics, Accounting and Statistics for undergraduate learners, as well as Economics, Industrial Policy and International Trade for postgraduates.
