Interns at Elizabeth Arden are presented with challenging and rewarding projects and assignments. They gain real world experience and exposure to Elizabeth Arden local and international projects, and have the opportunity to participate as a member of the workforce in a globally recognized brand.

Interns are expected to contribute to the success of Elizabeth Arden through innovative ideas and value creation gained both in school and through previous work experience.

What will I be doing?

Interns will be responsible for completing project(s) that deal with strategic business directions and company policy. These project(s) will provide exposure to top management and multiple functional areas. Assignments can include projects focused on policy development, HR System Management (Oracle based), talent management, total rewards, recruiting & staffing, change management, organizational development or design, and various other areas requiring human resources expertise. We expect our intern to demonstrate detailed understanding of the critical issues, decision-making, and project management skills.

The experience that our interns gain during their time with Elizabeth Arden makes them highly employable in junior HR generalist functions. HR interns work on exciting projects such as new global HR System Implementation, Training and Development Programmes and the management of Policy Review Processes and Change Management Campaigns. Interns will also have the opportunity to work on Employment Equity, Skills Development and BEE compliance tasks.

What we Expect

Applicants need: To be completing a Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial or Organizational Psychology, or other HR related Disciplines; Previous professional Human Resources experience and/or demonstrated interest in starting a career in Human Resources; Strong personal management skills and the ability to work independently; Strong organizational and analytical skills; Exceptional communication, influencing and interpersonal skills; Ability to thrive in a changing and complex environment; Demonstrated leadership ability, business acumen, and strong analytic problem-solving skills; Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage a variety of tasks. Demonstrated leadership potential (through campus activities, extracurricular involvement or other work experience). Eagerness to learn about retail and beauty. Enthusiasm and great attitude. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

What will the internship involve?

Over 6-12 months you will work across the following areas in HR: You will complete a placement working with our HR team; During your HR placement you will get exposure to all aspects of the HR portfolio; You will get hands-on exposure to the FMCG and Retail Sector, working in the field to build appreciation for how our sales and marketing teams bring our products to life on shelf and drive exceptional consumer experiences through our people.

This is a multi disciplinary environment, and interns get a broad understanding of the business and how different business units fit together. This is an extraordinary opportunity to develop a broad range of HR skills and apply those skills within the FMCG/Retail sector.

Recruitment is currently taking place across South Africa. The position will however be based in Cape Town and will commence in January 2014. Interns will be expected to commit to either a 6 or 12 months programme. Interns will receive a subsistence allowance during their internship.
