1. EMERGENCY CARE OFFICER GRADE 1 (125) – REF NO: 04603
Directorate: Emergency Medical Services
SALARY : R102 303 per annum (plus benefits)
CENTRE : City of Johannesburg (27 posts), Ekurhuleni (28 posts), Sedibeng (28 post), Tshwane
(27 posts) and Westrand (15)

REQUIREMENTS : Grade 12 certificate, Basic Ambulance Assistant certificate, current and valid
registration with HPCSA as a Basic Ambulance Assistant, valid driver’s license code
10 and PDP and previous experience in EMS will be advantageous. Additional
requirements: candidates that are shortlisted will be subjected to a competency test,
based on scope of post, duties and driving test.

DUTIES : Responsible for the treatment of patient within the scope of practice of Basic Life
Support, and transportation of patients as part of the planned patients transport and
Emergency Medical Services. Perform any other duties delegated by supervisor, and
incumbent will be responsible for taking care of EMS assets. Candidates are expected
to work shifts.

2. EMERGENCY CARE OFFICER: POSTS 25 – REF NO: 04601
Directorate: Emergency medical services
SALARY : R102 303 per annum (plus benefits)
CENTRE : Control Centre Midrand

REQUIREMENTS : Grade 12 certificate. Good computer skills, work organisational, prioritization and
interpersonal skills, Basic Ambulance Assistant certificate, valid registration with
HPCSA and previous experience in control centre as a call taker or dispatcher will be
an advantage. Additional requirements: successful shortlisted candidates will be
subjected to a competency test on call taking and dispatching via computer aided system.

DUTIES : Perform call taker and dispatcher functions for emergency ambulance and planned
patient transport within the EMS control centre at Midrand. Successful candidates are
expected to work shifts.
