The Eastern Cape Department of Health is looking for Call Takers within the OR Tambo District (24 Positions). The intention of this programme is to up-skill Members of the Communities in the field of Call-taking within the Emergency Call Centre Environment.

 

Physically challenged individuals are encouraged to apply for the position as Call-Takers. Successful candidates will be required to work Day and Night Shifts in the Emergency Medical Services Call Centre for a period of 2 years.

Stipend: R5,000 per month

REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.

Experience in the Operation of Switchboard and in Clerical/Administrative Functions will be an added advantage.

Communicate in English as well as fluency in the community language is a key requirement.

 

Skills and competencies:

Interpersonal and organisational skills,

Computer literacy,

Ability to work under pressure and in a team.

 

DUTIES

Handle incoming and outgoing calls,

take and convey messages,

test the switchboard consoles,

update departmental telephone director,

record and maintain information related to Emergency Medical Services Matters,

ensure proper maintenance of the switchboard equipment.
