Production Assistant to Technical Director x 2 (Johannesburg Newsroom)

Reporting to the Head: Technical Operations, News your key performance areas will include:
access running orders and scripts for distribution
assist the bulletin producer
clean of scripts
collect and type up the details for titles, supers and credits 
correct supers
perform count-downs in the studio
liaise with producers, journalists and editors
manage timings and durations of stories and rundowns.
work on the news desk
work closely with the producer, director and production team
coordinate and communicate production resources and facility arrangements in tandem with the production managers
attend and time production rehearsals
attend and coordinate planning meetings
check copyright and permission issues with Archives
ensure continuity, both on location and in the studio
produce timing schedules, shot lists and logs for post-production
call shots
liaise with the camera and sound crew during studio recordings
book artists and performers
organize the production and distribution of scripts
conduct research
complete all necessary paperwork in relation to the above tasks.

Requirements:
working knowledge of program origination software e.g. Dalet
ability to give and follow commands during the broadcast
an understanding of television production
an understanding of television language
a good understanding of English
computer literacy to level of spreadsheets, word and emails.
good communication skills
must be able to work in live and pre-record environment
must be able to work under pressure
proactive and organized
Note:
the successful candidates will be required to work irregular and long hours, including weekends, public holidays and standby shifts.
