3. FINANCE CLERK 2 POSTS REF NO: CFO 15/1/10

SALARY : R123 738 per annum, Level 5
CENTRE : Finance Management Division, Chief Directorate Budgeting, Fleet Command
Budget Management, Simon’s Town.
REQUIREMENTS : Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 certificate with finance related subjects.
Successful completion of the Budget Management Courses will be a strong
recommendation. Knowledge: Basic knowledge of financial policy, PFMA and
Budget process, Ability to understand and interpret basic financial policy. Skills:
Sound reasoning, mathematical and problem solving skills. MS Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Well developed verbal and written communication skills. Personal attributes: Able to compile effective reports and statistics. Trustworthy, honest and loyal. Ability to effectively function as part of a team, receptive to workrelated suggestions/ideas, decisive/persevering iro task finalisation and able to
effectively function under pressure. Added advantage: Post Matric qualification
in Finance, and/or a Basic knowledge of the financial function in the Department
of Defence/Public Service, Basic knowledge of the Financial Management
System (FMS) and a minimum of one year relevant experience

DUTIES : Assist in preparing a variety of financial/budgetary reports and statistics as well
as manage an effective internal registry for incoming/outgoing correspondence
and maintain a filing system. Collect/deliver budget related documentation from
and to other directorates and sections. Assist management wrt general
administrative functions at the Budget Management office.

SALARY : R123 738 per annum, Level 5
CENTRE : Finance Management Division, Directorate Stores, Supplier and Related
Payments, Sub Directorate Medical Payments, Pretoria.
REQUIREMENTS : Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 certificate with finance related subjects. Skills:
Computer literate in MS Word and Excel. Knowledge: Proven ability in
understanding, interpret and correctly applying of financial policy and prescripts.
Basic knowledge of Financial and Accounting processes. Knowledge of Medical
accounts management, sound knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act
and Treasury Regulation. Personal Attributes: Orientated towards teamwork and
able to effectively communicate with other personnel, medical practitioners,
South African National Defence Force (SANDF) members and Public Service Act
Personnel (PSAP). Receptive to work related suggestions and ideas and
persevering iro task finalisation. Hard working, loyal and dedicated. Added
advantage: Post matric qualification in Finance and/or a minimum of one year
relevant experience.

DUTIES : Timely payment of medical invoices. Utilising the Financial Management System
(FMS) to correctly process payment. Ensure that the medical practitioner has a
supplier code. Ensure that the account/invoice has not been paid before.
Register medical accounts/invoices. Answer enquiries wrt payment of medical
accounts/invoices. Do enquiries on PERSOL wrt the medical details of SANDF
members. Prepare accounts for payment. Strictly and correctly apply all policy
prescripts and regulations wrt the payment of medical accounts. Assist in general
office administration, filing, duplicating of documents, collecting and delivering
documentation.
