The Buyer is responsible for developing buying strategies. They tell us when and what we should buy, where we should buy it and why. They’re very bossy, but then again, they’re the ones who set the trends.
The Merchandise Planner analyses customer activity, forecasts sales, controls purchases and formulates budgets. They have eerie powers of precognition that put Nostradamus to shame.
The Marketer manages brand activity including advertising, PR, visual presentation and market research. They get to go on shoots and ogle all the hot models. Not that we’re jealous or anything.
The Retail Manager drives turnover, selects and develops store staff, manages stock and maintains systems and the overall administration of the store. They drink a great deal of coffee and never seem to stand still. Ever.
The Programmer provides strategic and cost-effective IT solutions and services to all the companies within The Foschini Group. Sometimes they secretly help us play games on the company computer…
The Logistics Controller works within our Distribution Centres focusing on Warehouse, Supply Chain and Transport management. In short, they make sure our stuff gets where it needs to be.
The Fashion Designer is in tune with current trends and styles our products appropriately to suit our customers’ lifestyle. They invariably have weird hair and too many shoes.
The HR Consultant provides staff solutions aligned with business strategies to facilitate the attraction, development and retention of staff. Basically, they’re our “people” people, if that makes any sense. A challenging opportunity is available for an individual with a sound understanding and knowledge of Human Resource principles.
The Industrial Engineer is a rare and valued species at The Foschini Group. These are the guys who constantly want to change things for the better. Faster, smarter, more efficient. They constantly look at processes and systems and recommend improvements. They are wired differently to your average Joe.
