You’ll join our team of creative young designers at our offices in the heart of Cape Town creating animated videos for the worlds biggest brands and for the Fuse School, our social enterprise that’s digitising the whole of the secondary school education and making it available to the world for free!

The Role

As a Digital Media Designer at fuse you will be responsible for designing, creating and managing the production of short highly engaging animated videos that ensure effective knowledge transfer and retention in our users.

You’ll be creating bespoke graphics, illustrations and animations, then bringing them to life! You’ll be delivering high quality and innovative motion graphic content that seamlessly integrates with e-learning solutions.

This is a role for a creative individual with above average illustration skills, excellent aesthetic judgment and willingness to collaborate within a team environment.

You will be an integral part of every stage in the creative process, from conceptualisation to client amendments.

You’ll nee to have an ability to ‘visualise’ concepts and ideas, making them easier to understand for the intended audience.

You must have a link to your showreel/portfolio.

This role would suit someone with good 2D illustration and animation skills/portfolio. Candidates who show predominantly 3D work on display without any/little 2D work/examples will be disqualified early on.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Engage with the project manager and client to identify the key message and audience of the video.
  • Visualise scripts in storyboards, and create illustrated and animated preview scenes for client feedback.
  • Publish the finished video using the appropriate settings.
  • Organise and deliver against project deadlines and schedules for multiple projects simultaneously, working closely with the Project Manager.

 

About You

Requirements

  • Ability to comprehend and uphold brand style guidelines, producing work of a suitable style
  • Ability to solve an array of challenges through visual design
  • Manage time effectively, ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented individual who reviews his/her work carefully, quality control is key
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaborate with a team
  • Experience with live footage editing a bonus!

 

Qualifications/skills

  • Educated to degree (or equivalent) level; and/or demonstrate relevant experience
  • Excellent skills with Adobe After Effects and Illustrator
  • Relevant experience as a Digital Media Designer producing online, print or video based content.
  • Some hand drawing skills and ability to produce hand drawn storyboards a bonus.

Salary 122,400 South African Rand (ZAR)
