The role

The Cape Town Graduate Internship Programme will run for 9 months and we anticipate starting in September 2013. The programme is designed to give you additional training, mentorship and project work that will make sure you get a great start to your career in the information tech industry.

The programme is planned and executed around the following:

  • Java Tech skills – in depth class room instruction as well as practical experience which culminates in a full Java certification
  • Business Analyst & Project Management skills – fundamentals
  • Mentorship – You will work with a BBD mentor. Someone who you can use as a sounding board and who will champion your learning.  You will work directly on projects with your mentor.
  • Soft Skills – all the skills that help you in any career whether it be IT related or not. These include presentation skills, business communication, business etiquette, leadership skills, time management and conflict management.
  • Realistic Timelines – you will be working on a BBD team so we make sure you will have time to do that and get involved in additional training and mentorship activities.
  • After your internship you will write formal assessments which ensure certification.  Additionally you will be assessed by the project team.  Interns who perform consistently may receive permanent job offers.
Skills & experience
  • Applicants must have completed or be in the final year of completing a BSC Computer Science / Engineering degree from one of the recognised universities.  Alternatively a Bcom degree with the relevant subjects.  Alternatively a Noatoional Diploma in Information technology with a minimum of 65% average.
  • Applicants must have no more than 1 years full time work experience
  • Applicants must have demonstrated the drive and desire to succeed through consistent academic results
  • Applicants must be previously disadvantaged South African citizens
