Duties & Responsibilities The intern’s duties include producing articles, photos and multimedia for Health24.com on the Web, as well as helping to put together the online presence for larger news packages and enterprise projects. He or she is also expected to assist editors by conducting research and compiling information for special sections, enterprise stories and breaking news events. The intern will gain technical experience working with HTML, Photoshop and our database-driven content management system. In addition, he or she will acquire more journalistic skills, including writing headlines and summaries and sharpening his or her news judgment. The internship is intended to teach the skills used by a producer for Health24.com. This on-the-job training will expose interns to how news judgments are made and how the plans for larger enterprise take shape. As the internship progresses, interns can expect to contribute more and more to the coverage. The applicant must be a junior, senior or graduate student at the time the application is submitted, but may have graduated before beginning the internship. The intern would preferably have had at least one previous internship at a news organization although this is not a requirement. Candidates will preferably know some HTML and Photoshop and have a demonstrated interest in journalism and a familiarity with Health24.com. Load articles in the appropriate sections on the website • Localise international articles • Perform routine maintenance tasks on legacy content on the website, including to improve SEO • Update content • Load articles in the Multimedia section • Upload Multimedia content related to Health24 • Populate and update sponsored sections and centres as required
Die intern se dienste sluit in die lewering van artikels, foto’s en multimedia vir Health24.com op die internet, asook hulp met die aanlyn-saamstelling van groter nuus-pakkette en uitdagende projekte. Daar word ook van hom of haar verwag om redakteurs by te staan met navorsing en die saamstel van inligting vir spesiale afdelings, uitdagende stories en vars nuusgebeure.
Die intern sal tegniese ondervinding met HTML, Photoshop en ons databasis-gedrewe inhoud-bestuurstelsel opdoen. Daarbenewens sal hy of sy meer joernalistieke vaardighede aanleer, insluitende die skryf van opskrifte en opsommings, en sal die geleentheid hê om sy of haar nuus-oordeel te verskerp.
Die doel van die internskap is dat die intern skeppende vaardighede wat deur Health24 vereis word, aanleer. Hierdie indiens opleiding sal interns blootstel aan nuus-oordeel-besluite en hoe groter projekte vorm aanneem. Namate die internskap vorder, kan interns verwag om al hoe meer nuusdekking-insette, te lewer.
Die aansoeker moet ten tye van die aansoek ’n junior of senior student wees, maar mag ook reeds gegradueer het voor die aanvang van die internskap. Dit is verkieslik dat die intern reeds één vorige internskap by ’n nuusorganisasie voltooi het, maar dit is nie ’n absolute vereiste nie. Kandidate moet verkieslik ook vertroud wees met HTML en Photoshop, ’n belangstelling in joernalistiek toon en kennis dra van Health24.
