Job Description

IT Intern and Interns to undertake all courses:

• Introduction to Computer Mathematics
• Introduction to Mainframe
• Introduction to Computer Hardware
• Introduction to Computer Software
• Introduction to Servers
• HTML, CSS and Forms
• Linux Fundamentals
• Linux II
• PHP & MySQL
• Java Programming Primer & Advanced
• Word press, Digital, Marketing & Search Engine optimization
• Android development
• Excel Intermediate
• HDS Basic Storage Concepts- Certification
• Introduction to Databases
• SAN
• Introduction to back-up & archiving
• N+ Certification

The ALiTE interns are assessed throughout the year by Academy facilitators and will be expected to complete at least 1 internationally recognized certification and a Systems Support NQF5 qualification. At the end of the year if they are assessed as competent, they will graduate from the Academy and either proceeds to employment outside of HDS or, if HDS considers that they are employable within the HDS community, they could proceed to the 2nd year of the Internship programme.

Intern D programme

2nd year intern – usually after Alite year – fewer courses – more HDS Academy orientated learning- designated for on-going internal employment,-able to be more independent & perform work functions for HDS

Group is “Project Managed” by Academy on Customer Site, but interns will attend selected classes at Academy.

Customer to choose 6 Elective classes and 2 workshops from the list below, for group to undertake. All interns have the benefit of a personal coach and Academy mentorship in addition to the HDS onsite mentorship:

• SNIA Concepts
• HDS Storage Foundation
• HUSVM
• Server +
• Security +
• Introduction to Brocade, switches & zoning (workshop)
• VSP installation & Administration (workshop)
• Backups (workshop)
• Operating Systems (workshop)
• Replication (workshop)
• Introduction to Mainframe Storage
• Customer Care
• Enhanced Presentation
• Sales
• Service Management (workshop)
• Enhanced Business Writing

The Intern Ds are assessed twice a year by Academy facilitators and will be expected to complete at least 1 internationally recognised certification. At the end of the year they will compile a report and conduct a presentation. After completion of the year, they will have completed their tenure under the Academy and will be ready to be employed by HDS /partners/customer.
