The CSIR has an Internship opportunity for an Intern in the Earth Observation Science and Information Technology (EOSIT) competence area within the Meraka Institute.

Location: Pretoria

Internship: Graphic and User Interface Design

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in visual/graphic/digital design or a related field;
• Knowledge of JavaScript/jQuery;
• Knowledge and understanding of HTML and CSS;
• Knowledge of frontend design or coding frameworks;
• A strong desire to make websites and web applications, work with the latest tools and collaborate with the team;
• Exceptional creativity and a good design sense;
• An understanding and appreciation for user experience;
• Exceptional written and verbal skills.

Internship: Digital media & Community Channels

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication or media studies;
• Excellent and above average creativity, design and social media engagement skills;
• Knowledge of the following areas:

o Keyword analysis,

 

o Data sourcing,

 

o Information management;

 

o Process / information analysis and design;

 

o Web, technology, social platforms, current and future trends.

• Strong oral and written communication skills;
• Highly organised and creative;
• Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules;
• Demonstrated team player;
• Ability to build lasting relationships and strong communities.
