Kimberley Underground Mines – Mine Overseer

Kimberley Underground Mines JV is situated in the city of Kimberley in the Northern Cape. The mine consists of 3 conventional
slushier drift block cave mines.

Job Description: Reporting to the Mine Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for achieving set targets in a safe and cost
effective manner. Two positions are available – one for Development and the other for Block Cave production.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

 Ensure effective resource utilisation and optimisation
 Drive production and maintenance
 Interact with all mining disciplines
 Ensure maintenance management system is in place
 Develop and maintain a document management system to ensure efficient storage and access of information
 Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice and report deviations
 Ensure adherence and compliance to Safety, Health and Environmental processes

 

Minimum Requirements:
 Standard 10/Grade 12
 Permanent Blasting Certificate (Scheduled Mines)
 Mine Overseers Certificate of Competency
 Valid driver’s license(Code EB/08)
 Computer Literacy in Microsoft Office software and SACO
 10 years’ experience in an underground environment

 

Other Skills / Competencies
 Managerial/supervisory experience
 Good written and verbal communication skills in English
 Diamond and Massive Mining (Block Cave) AND/OR Trackless development experience
 2 years’ experience as a Mine Overseer will be an advantage
