The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) in conjunction with the Water and Energy Sector Education and Training Authority (ESETA) hereby offers unemployed graduates an 18-months internship in the local government sector. MISA is an agency of government accountable to the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) established to serve as a single window of coordination for the development of Technical capacity inlocal government.

The rationale for the establishment of MISA is to support accelerated municipal infrastructure development to eradicate service and rehabilitation backlogs related to the provision cf basic Services as well as develop the capacity of municipalities te sustainably deliver and manage infrastructure. MISA strives for excellence in the context of service delivery and skills development and encourages historically disadvantaged individuals to apply.

The programme targets unemployed graduates from historically disadvantaged communities for postgraduate workplace internship to obtain workplace experience for career mobility and employability in line with the objectives of the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS lll) as well as to expose inexperienced built environment graduates to local government and deploy them under the tutelage of an experienced qualified municipal supervisor official for on-the-job training exposure.

MISA offers an 18–months’ workplace internship opportunity with municipalities for the following Technical_disciplines:­

  • Civil Engineering
  • Town Planning
  • Water & Sanitation
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Waste Management

Eligibility: Unemployed FET College or university graduates meeting the minimum academic requirements in the form of:-

  • Civil Engineering – N6/ National Diplome;I B. Tech degree (Civil Engineering)
  • Electrical Engineering  Completed N61/ National Diploma/ B. Tech degree (Electrical Engineering)
  • Town & Regional Planning – N6/ National Diploma l Bachelors degree (Town & Regional Planning)
  • Water & Sanitation – N6/ National Diploma/ B. Tech (Water & Sanitation)
  • Waste Management- N6 /National Diploma/ B. Tech (Environmental Science)

Requirements: Applicants must be unemployed graduates willing and available to undergo 18-months workplace experience (post graduate). Applicants wishing to undergo their PL1 or PL2 pre-graduation experiential learning will be considered. MISA does not guarantee any employment to graduates owing to participation in the internship programme. All applications need to include:-
