Bursaries in South Africa

As part of realising its vision of being an employer of first choice and preparing the industry for its future resourcing needs, Lonmin offers comprehensive and industry renowned Bursaries to students who wish to pursue a career in mining or mining related disciplines such as Geology, Mine Surveying, Mining Engineering, Electrical & Mechanical & Chemical Engineering and Metallurgy.

The Lonmin Bursary Scheme has been established to assist potential students to attain qualifications in mining-related disciplines, thereby contributing to the general upliftment of skills and qualification levels in the mining sector.

-The fully paid Bursaries are offered to top performing students who wish to further their studies at accredited formal tertiary institutions.

On successful completion of their academic studies at tertiary institutions the Bursars then join Lonmin as Employees with the designation “Graduates in Training”. As Graduates in Training they are required to undergo a pre-determined development programme which has outcomes based within their relevant field. Each Graduate in Training will be assigned a Mentor for his/her guidance.
