Minimum Education Requirements:
NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or Adult Senior Certificate), Blasting certificate, Mine Overseers Certificate
Additional Education Requirements:
Years of Experience: 2-4 years
Skills Required:
Relevant computer skills (MS Office & SAP)
Sound understanding of metalliferous mining processes and systems
Competent in functional systems used in the business
Understanding of Safety, Health and Environment standards and procedures
Position Summary:
The MINE OVERSEER exists to plan, coordinate, lead and control the
resources, and design section specific systems to ensure that the
shaft development and stoping processes operates safe and effectively
from a current and future best practice perspective. The role holder
will carry a legal appointment applicable to the role.
At least 3 years experience as a mining shift supervisor
(inclusive of excellent safety and production results)
Acting exposure as a Mine Overseer will be advantageous
Platinum mining experience will be advantageous.

Job Requirements:
Manage and control the allocation of funds to ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure.
Assist in compiling the mining budget by providing information based on operational and resource requirements.
Interpret, develop and implement operational objectives and action plans to achieve the mining and business strategy.
Establishes and monitors performance indicators for the mining operations under his control to ensure the attainment of mining objectives.
Monitor compliance with mining standards and legislative requirements to ensure adherence.
Maintain and implement safety and health systems and ensure operational compliance in accordance with the MHSA.
Implement the operational requirements of the mines environmental policy.
Reviews progressive production output information and statistics, investigate and actions deviations to ensure attainment of production plan.
Investigate opportunity for continuous improvement and develop, implement and control action plans to realize the improvements.
Reviews and regulates the commitment of resources within the mining areas to optimize the efficiency of operations and achievement of overall objectives.
Interpret the mining operational plan and production results to develop a monthly operation plan in accordance with the annual production plan requirements.
Sets priorities, manage and co ordinate operational activities to ensure achievement of required production targets.
Implements the Risk Management plan according to organisational requirements.
Review and approve labour plans around operational targets.
Provide leadership and inspire team members towards high performance.
Action talent management initiatives for team members (performance review, talent review etc).
Ensure team members have an Individual Performance Agreement and Development Plan in place and that it is updated timeously.
Create opportunities for development through participation and involvement in new business or technology enhancement projects for team members.
Provide coaching to team members on an ongoing basis
