The Africa Pay TV business recognizes the importance of unified and aggregated digital media platforms for all the required business units operating throughout Africa. The group has recognised the importance of the correct technology platform as well as partnering and managing key partners (internal & external) to optimise the complete digital ecosystem. Driving the management, usability, optimisation, accessibility of digital media across the Africa content for all relevant business units and subscribers with the commercialisation of the digital media platforms, pushing next generation technology and managing (internal and external) relationships and dependencies. Driving technology opportunities across the digital platforms to support growth across the relevant Africa markets

Africa is seeking a Digital Technical Manager to own and drive our digital platform strategy across all digital channels. This entails Initiate, develop, implement, track, enhance and optimize all existing and new digital capabilities for MultiChoice Africa.

Outputs

Accountable for deliverables from 3rd party development companies.
Analyse, incorporate and propose market trends, related industry trends and technology industries
Deliver a contextualized technology roadmap that will give MultiChoice Africa the competitive edge on the African continent.
Mentoring and performance management of internal external and internal resources
Managing the relationship with technical stakeholders in other departments including: DStv Online, DStv Mobile and the Information Technology Department (ITD), BTD and promote collaboration.
Responsible for Departmental budgets and planning.
Align digital capabilities with industry standards and trends and make sure that the digital technology stack are aligned with the enterprise architecture
Defined digital roadmap and strategy for digital platforms across Africa and make sure they are uniform and complementary to the existing systems and platforms

 

Education & Experience

BSc Computer Science or relevant IT Degree
At least 10 years+ software development and design experience
At least 3 years+ experience managing a technical team with developers, analysts and tester
At least 10 years+ working in a Digital Media organization
Experience in implementing a seamless SDLC process from requirement solicitation, design, development, build, test, usability testing to deployment into production.
Managing onshore and offshore development teams
Experience in implementing Agile software development practices such as Scrum, Extreme programming and Rapid Application Development (RAD)
Thorough understanding of Native mobile application design, Mobile Website design, Website design Web services design, Content Management Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and Pay Television Billing Systems.
Experience in the technical integration with African payment gateways and banks
Proven project experience in development of Android, IOS and BlackBerry Mobile applications.

Accountable for managing a Technical Team of Developers, Analysts and Testers
Establishment of an effective Digital Media Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Implement, document, promote and obtain adoption of development principles, processes and best practices
Defining a 1 year, 3 year and 5 year Technical Digital Media implementation strategy.
Identification of the best candidates for Development, Analysis and Testing.
Responsible for the internalisation of MultiChoice intellectual property through the knowledge transfer from external vendors to internal staff.
Accountable for deliverables from 3rd party development companies.
