Media24 South Africa: Magazine Designer – Cape Town

Media24 Weekly Magazines has two vacancies for magazine designers at an exciting new brand extension division within Huisgenoot, YOU and DRUM at their head office in Cape Town.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS
-A tertiary qualification in graphic design or a related field.
-A minimum of one year’s experience as a designer/layout artist with a magazine
-Previous experience in an editorial environment would be a major advantage.
-A portfolio showcasing previous designs within a magazine environment
-A working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop.
-An ability to take ownership of pages to ensure the quality of the final product.
-Must be prepared to work under deadline pressure, sometimes for long hours.
-The ability to meet the constantly demanding deadlines of a weekly magazine.
-Be keen to learn and be flexible in terms of different design styles as various material is to be produced.
-An even temperament and the ability to work under pressure and deal with diverse personalities and situations.
-A passion and flair for design.
