The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of South Africa (MDF) is a nonprofit organisation that supports people affected by muscular dystrophy and neuromuscular disorders.

MDF – Gauteng Branch seeks to appoint a Programme Coordinator, based in Johannesburg.

Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of South Africa National Office based in Johannesburg seeks to appoint a Programme Coordinator. The applicant must have a keen interest and a proven track record experience in the development of funds, partnership and networking as well as the coordination and management of disability, awareness and health programmes. He/ She must have a passion for the support, development and wellbeing of people with disabilities. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Responsibilities:
Business Development and Sustainability Programmes

To prospect for new business, new donors, and drive income from new partnerships;
Develop a rapport with new clients and set targets for funding while developing a support structure that will continually improve funding relationships;
Grow and retain existing accounts;
Drive the funding of specific projects / programmes or specific objectives;
Drive funding through service delivery while overseeing the creation and implementation for fund development, i.e. grants, trusts, project proposals.

Service Delivery Programmes
Assist the foundation in developing relationships with external programme specific stakeholders;
Formulate effective disability, muscular dystrophy awareness and healthprogrammes, making sure that both solicited and unsolicited programmes are catered for;
Carry out needs assessment ensuring branches receive information, as well monitoring and evaluation;
Represent the organisation in meetings and seminars related to programme creation and fund development;
Manage the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation awareness calendar;
Identify Muscular Dystrophy needs and trends in South Africa;
Coordination and development of media partners through the director’s office;
Provide area related expertise and leadership;
Facilitate programme related training and development initiatives as well as focus groups and forums;
Collect, collate and manage information and maintaining resources;
Assist in the marketing of the MDF magazine though service delivery;
Manage advocacy, campaigns, awareness;
Programme / fund development strategic planning for each year;
Oversee the member base.

Requirements:
Relevant degree in social sciences, additional marketing and PR qualification or experience would be an added advantage;
Minimum of three years experience in programme development and proven track record in fund development;
Minimum of two years experience in the nonprofit sector;
Valid driver’s licence and own car essential;
Computer literacy and must be able to travel;
Organisational skills with knowledge and understanding of disability and healthprogrammes and its structures;
Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format;
Ability to train other people and conduct public speaking;
Team player who is able to build relationships.
