Data Analyst
105 West – Sandton
Job Purpose:
• To translate business data and information requirements into implementable data designs for the EDW
Functions/ Key Responsibilities
Followed Data Management Processes, Procedures, Standards & Guidelines:
• Adhere to the defined principles, processes, standards and guidelines communicated by the Senior Data Analysts.
Developed ETL design specifications that includes data mapping and associated metadata and business rules:
• Provide structured documentation of data transformation, propagation, aggregation and derivation rules for populating the data warehouse and dependent data marts i.e. ETL design.
• Analyse and understand data quality issues, assessment rules and the specification of the technical design for the development of DQ MI solutions.
• Align design deliverables to agreed Data Architecture principles and blueprints as well as data design and modeling guidelines and standards.
• Map the source systems’ data to physical data warehouse models.
• Ensure the seamless interface to Metadata processes.
• Adhere to prescribed methodologies.
• Adhere to prescribed data & process governance.
Implemented Conceptual & Logical Data Models (Relational and/or Dimensional) for the EDW:
• Understand and elaborate business’s data and information requirements as documented in Business Requirements Specifications.
• Create the detailed requirement specification and data inventory including quality business metadata.
• Model business’s data and information requirements into generic enterprise data models e.g. BDWM.
• Develop conceptual and logical (relational or dimensional) data models for the data warehouse in a structured manner.
• Apply the principles of quality assurance for software development in relation to data.
• Make recommendations about and apply Nedbank specific customisations to generic enterprise data models e.g. BDWM.
• Generate physical data models for the data warehouse.
• Ensure the seamless interface to Metadata processes.
• Adhere to prescribed methodologies.
• Adhere to prescribed data & process governance.
Presented data models:
• Align the data model with stakeholder requirements.
• Present individual models to stakeholders.
• Change model according to stakeholder feedback.
Supported models and specifications:
• Support ETL programmers during development phase.
• Support testers during testing phase.
• Support production implementation.
Updated Data Classification register:
• Update Data Classification register with appropriate changes.
Requirements:
• Degree – Information Systems with relevant training & experience/ Optional DAMA
• 3-5 years, Data Modeling (ERD / Dimensional)/IFW / M1 / ERWIN
• Able to work in a high-pressured, delivery driven environment.
• Able to work independently and manage deliverables.
