Occupational Health and Safety Officer Vacancy

Internal & External applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacancy in the Risk Control Department at Zwartkopjes Pumping Station:

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER (HAY BAND – M) 

Reporting to the Risk Control Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible to maintain an effective Occupational Health & Safety Management system (OHSAS 18001), which ensures legal compliance for the site under the regulations of the OHS Act.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

The critical functions will include:

• Identify, evaluate and mitigate risks and hazards
• Conduct safety inspections and audits
• Participate in SHE committee meetings and present stats in respect of type of incidents
• Conduct safety awareness
• Perform incidents investigations
• Manage contractors on site
• Maintain record of all the firefighting equipment
• Compile and control the safety budget

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

• Grade 12 combined with a National Diploma in Safety Management
• 2 Years Industry Experience
• SAMTRAC
• Computer Literacy (Advanced MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
• Valid Code B Drivers license and the ability to pass the Rand Water K53 Drivers evaluation.
• Experience in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
