Introduction

An international junior diamond mining company which is expanding its operations in the Northern Cape, is currently recruiting an Accountant to be based between Douglas and Prieska.

Minimum Requirements

• B.Comm Hons (Accounting)
• Completed articles an advantage
• Accounting of capital projects
• Syspro, Pastel system experience/ general ledger to Trial balance

Job Specification

Key Performance Areas/ Duties & Respoilnsibities:
• Update, maintenance and monthly close-off of financial and accounting records and the preparation of monthly financial and management accounts;
• Management and control of monthly, quarterly and annual financial periods applying accounting standards and Company Policies;
• Maintenance of accounting system;
• Preparation of general ledger account reconciliations;
• Preparation of inter-company debit and credit notes with supporting documentation;
• Prepare and dispatch invoices, debit and credit notes as required with supporting documentation;
• Record and allocate receipts timeously;
• Reconcile debtors accounts to the general ledger;
• Prepare and submit monthly statements;
• Prepare debtors age analysis and investigate over-due accounts
• Hands on working knowledge of SYSPRO or other similar accounting packages
• Capital expenditure control and reporting
• Reconciliation of asset control accounts
• VAT/PAYE/Taxation reconciliations

Skills/competencies:

• A high degree of integrity and numerical ability to ensure complete, accurate and timeous financial period close-offs within set deadlines
• the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders
• Good written and oral communications skills and a service orientation
• A practical knowledge of the latest accounting standards and statements
• Understanding of sound corporate governance
• Ability to plan and meet deadlines.
• Strong numerical competence
• Computer literacy, knowledge and application of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
