KEY REQUIREMENTS

· Degree in Engineering and/ or aircraft maintenance qualification ( an additional tertiary qualification in business would be advantageous)

· 8 years experience in aircraft maintenance environment, 4 years of which must be at management level

· Knowledge of the Civil Aviation Regulatory requirement Part 145, 121, 66, 43 and 21.

· Be able to work under pressure at all times

· Willing to work odd hours due to operational demand

JOB PURPOSE

To direct the maintenance function of the technical department ensuring that the fleet is maintained and supported in line with the manufacturers specifications, aviation authorities requirements and optimal standards of safety and quality as well as ensuring alignment to the technical department’s global strategy and the business strategy of SA Express.

 

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Strategic execution of the Technical Department’s maintenance and support strategy.

· Develop and expand Third Party Maintenance business.

· Ensure that department is internationally benchmarked in respect of operational efficiencies such as dispatch reliability, targets, operational cost to revenue ratios, heavy maintenance down time, staff turnover and technician licensing, productivity etc.

· Leverage, network and alliances to drive business performance improvement.

· Direct maintenance strategy development and implementation

· Ensure high degree of Customer Service standards are maintained across internal as well as external stakeholder relationships

· Ensure department is aligned to the customer service strategy and end user

· Oversight over the entire aircraft Direct Maintenance function

· Ensure sufficient support at Line Stations

· Ensure effective fleet maintenance planning and adaptation to abnormal demands

· Ensure compliance to Health & Safety and environmental standards.

· Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements

· Ensure high quality processes/standards are in place

· Maintain a high degree of corporate governance

· Ensure compliance to Health & Safety and environmental standards.

· Ensure robust security policy is in place

· Ensure effective management of human resources and implementation of relevant policies and procedures according to business/shareholder(SOE) strategy.

· Provide strong leadership of the direct maintenance functions with specific focus to people management, employee engagement, recognition, communication and other human capital drivers.

· Provide high leverage and support to the GM Technical in terms of managing and leading the operation

· Develop a human capital plan that ensures succession within department

· Develop strong management info systems and analytical tools to support business objectives

· Prudent management of financial and human resources

· Effective project management

· Participating in Third Party Maintenance Support

Develop effective operational management reporting system to ensure data integrity, effective communication channels between various stakeholders and transparency within the department
