Position Description

Santam’s Broker Distribution: Agriculture department has a position available for a Relationship Manager who will be based in Pretoria.

To develop and coordinate Agri broker relationships at strategic level with the focus on efficiency, growth, and profitability in line with broker and Santam objectives and support off Broker Distribution .

The role requires a fresh approach to the marketing of Agricultural insurance. It requires that the unique features in the agricultural environment are aligned with Santam’s overall strategy in such a way that clients, intermediaries, business partners and the agricultural industry at large, perceive Santam as the undisputed industry leader.


Key Responsibilities

Develop and coordinate the broker and internal relationships

Define and deliver on growth and profitability targets on Agri business

Understand, translate and champion the strategic and holistic needs of the brokers and clients

Identify and implement innovative cost-effective delivery solutions

Monitor and respond to market trends and developments

Manage and lead real and virtual teams to support the coordinated broker approach

Cross-selling and upselling

Manage SLA and CSI requirements

Facilitate overall broker/staff  Agri  training according to needs


Minimum Requirements

B Degree / AIISA  or comparable qualification

Relevant  experience in Agricultural Insurance , underwriting, broker environment and Sales

3-5 year Agri asset or commercial insurance experience


Technical underwriting skills

Insurance products in general – Short term

Presentation skills

Appreciation of insurance and underwriting principles

Statistical analysis

Planning skills

Negotiating skills

Selling and marketing skills



Deciding and initiating action

Building networks and good relations


Developing and implementing strategy

Enterprising and commercial thinking
