Systems Manager: Supply Chain Management Systems (At a level of a Colonel)
Section: Resource and Administrative Support Systems Management
Component: Systems Infrastructure and Technology Development
Salary Level: MMS Band = An inclusive package of R608 691 per annum.
Ref: TMS12/2014
Additional requirements applicable to this post:
 A National Diploma / a Degree in the field of Information Technology / Supply Chain / Logistics
Management / Purchasing Management/Policing.
 Knowledge of financial management will be an added advantage.
 A comprehensive knowledge of System Development Lifecycle and Minimum Information Security

Standards.
 Knowledge of standards for IS/ICT infrastructure and a detailed knowledge of demand, procurement,
control, maintenance and disposal of the IS/ICT infrastructure.
 A working knowledge of all policies and standard operating procedures concerning all spheres of
Supply Chain Management/ Interim Financial Statements.
 A knowledge of all policies, the User Asset Management Plan and standard operating procedures
concerning Facility Management.
Core Functions:
 Ensure systems are developed, implemented and maintained, which support the current policies and
standard operating procedures within the Supply Chain Management and Facility Management
environments.
 Ensure the identification, development, implementation and maintenance of interfaces with other
Government or private institutions, to provide a seamless solution to the Supply Chain Management
and Facility Management environments.
 Ensure system security is maintained across all spheres within the relevant business area.
 Manage consultants, contractors, contracts and Service Level Agreements from service providers
which are relevant to the business area.
 Implement, manage and maintain the IS/ICT infrastructure needed for relevant business area in SAPS
 The effective and efficient management of all resources allocated to the immediate post environment in
accordance with relevant directives and legislation.

 Persons who retired from the Public Service by taking a severance package, early retirement or for medical reasons, as well as persons with previous convictions, are excluded.

1. Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae.

2. Certified copies of an applicant ID document, valid motor vehicle driver’s license (Police Act Appointments only) and all educational qualification obtained.
 Through the filling of the above mentioned posts, an applicant whose appointment will promote representivity may receive preference.
 If a candidate is short-listed, it can be expected of him/her to undergo a personal interview which may include practical test or presentation.
 The South African Police Service will verify the residential address and qualification of applicants, as well as citizenship. Reference checking will be conducted on all short listed applicants.
