Purpose of Job /Role Intent:

Ensure that sound financial management and reporting practices are implemented and applied at the operating hubs, satellite locations, and SBU.

Apply relevant policies, procedures and ensure compliance to internal controls.

Ensures effective, accurate and timely reporting to internal stakeholders.

Participates and provides input in business decision making, financial management of the business unit and also ensure the effective management of the financial team.
Support the cost and profit centre managers with financial analysis and intelligence in a proactive and positive.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:

CA (SA) or equivalent with minimum of 3 years relevant post articles experience OR

B.Com Hons Accounting / CTA or equivalent with 5 years post articles relevant experience OR

B.Com Hons with 7 years relevant experience OR

B.Com / BTech Acc with 10 years post articles relevant experience.

Proven managerial experience

Proven SAP experience

Proven financial/management reporting skills

Core Elements of Job

–   Consolidate annual income budgets and analyse actual results against budget
–   Ensure that distribution and other related costs are analysed and invoiced

–   Analyse pricing & volume variances

–   Review cash flow forecasts

–   Analyse profit contributions of product lines

Inventory (only at Explosives – Africa and opencast mines)

–  Reviews mass balancing and reconciles gains/losses

–  Analyse pricing, volume and quality variances

–  Report on inventory levels and performes ratio analysis

–  Analyse relevant inventory, purchase, stock and other cost of sales accounts

–  Values (including NRV) inventory at all locations, and records any unrealised profit in stock
–  Report on obsolete inventory and follows up actions required by business
–  Follow up on any costing queries

–   Review product cost using business assumptions

Cost centre analyses / decision support
– 
Confirm the accuracy and completeness of SAP data with cost centre holders
–  Guidance to BU cost centre owners in preparing and managing their costs/budgets
–  Monthly analysis of cost centres to identify areas of concern to be addressed by cost centre owners/BU management

–  Guidance to cost centre owners on financial decisions including scenario analysis to inform business decisions
–  Reviews monthly cost reports with variance explanations
–  Custodian of governance in the business unit or department being served
–  Evaluate significant contracts for unusual accounting transactions

Budget and forecast process
–  Planning and coordinating the BU / value chain annual budget process
–  Guidance to BU / value chain cost centre owners on annual budget & quarterly forecasts processes and requirements

–  Manage budget process and quarterly forecast process for BU / value chain in line with group requirements and timelines
–  Signing-off BU entity structure and consolidation methods in HFM for purpose of Budget
–  Analyses financial information received for budgets and forecasts
–  Perform variance analysis of expenditure against budget, prior year and forecast
–  Compile BU / value chain results for budget presentations and quarterly BU Exco forecast presentations
–  Preparing scenarios to gauge the impact of current business results vis-à-vis the approved budget
–  Perform bi-annual impairment reviews for relevant CGU’s
–  Prepare GMO / monthly forecast for the BU /value chain, and analyse for reasonableness
–  Maintain SAP structures to align with BU / value chain requirements and make budget changes accordingly
– Plan net working capital investment for all product lines / value chains
– Planning and input of SBU RCP

Monthly management reporting
–  Prepare the monthly management reporting of the BU / value chain results
–  Reconciliation of monthly SAP / HFM and BW/Management reporting results
–  Tracking results against KPIs to be reported to BU Exco
– Consolidation & validation of production & sales volumes, ensuring accurate reporting to external stakeholders
–  Prepare / review variance analysis of current results against annual budget, prior year and forecasts
–  Interaction with operating hubs to ensure alignment and understanding of cost build-up and transfers to SBU per product line where applicable

Financial Systems Support
– 
Maintain cost and profit centre structure within SAP to ensure alignment with mine/plant requirements
–  Maintain BW structure to align with BU / value chain requirements
–  BU acceptance on metadata in HFM
–  Identify HFM improvements and changes required for BU
–  Perform BU testing of HFM reporting changes
–  Develop, implement and maintain the required management reporting requirements
–  Prepare and review data in TM1 management reporting system (PVPY etc.)
–  Prepare and review BU / value chain data in Ten Year Model (FST).

New business development support
– Provide input and review of new business cases from New Business Development and Sales & Marketing teams. (new contracts, tenders, capex investements, joint ventures, new business, etc
