Senior Accountant

Alexander Forbes (Pty) Ltd seeks to employ a Senior Accountant, to be based in the Brookyn, Pretoria office

 

Minimum Requirements

Formal Qualifications
* Minimum of Grade 12 accounting / accounting degree
* Working towards or completion of a relevant Degree/Tertiary qualification and Post Graduate Qualifications an advantage

Required Experience
* Approximately 3 years related financial services experience
* Being able to work independent of supervision

 

 

Job Specification

Main Purpose
* To maintain a portfolio of funds by completing required tasks such as making payments, managing the cash flow of funds and reconciling the bank account
* To complete and submit monthly, quarterly or any annual returns as per any statutory requirements
* To produce financial statements of the highest qualify to clients within a 4 month period of the funds year end

Level Summary
* Position requires approximately 3 years experience of a combination of education and experience in Retirement Fund accounting. The role should be performed independently of supervision.

* To make appropriate and timely decisions
* Must be able to solve problems or make decisions making reference to Manuals, Company policies and procedures. External/ Internal resources, General practise within statutory funds
* Micro – Planning for short term business needs. Individual targets monthly.

Problem Solving and Communication
* Solve complex business problems
* Analyse information and select best solution from a range of alternative solutions
* Verbal communication and written communication

Leadership Lead, guide and support
* Develop and maintain desired organisational culture as example to team members
* Must have a working knowledge of retirement funds
* Model required leadership behaviour and values

Accountability
* Accountable for meeting SLA requirements in the administration of the retirement funds
* Funds on their portfolio and overseeing all procedures are adhered to mitigate all risk associated with portfolio
