This position is for a member of the JSE Networks Department. The suitable candidate will be responsible for the daily operational tasks and procedures, which include monitoring and supporting all hardware and software that the team is responsible for.

This includes:
• Cisco Routers
• Cisco Firewall Appliances
• Cisco Switches
• Network Appliances
• Network Related software
• Network Monitoring hardware and applications

The Senior Network Specialist will report into the Manager: Networks.

 

Responsibilities / Outputs

Perform daily administration tasks on the JSE Network devices
Support and assist with network related queries and requests from users. This includes problem determination
Create and implement network designs
Implement network security and ensure the integrity of the JSE network
Monitor and resolve network related issues and bottlenecks
Capacity monitoring and planning of networks
Maintain documentation for the supported systems / environments
Interact with outside vendors for both production support issues and new / improved technologies
Assist in ensuring that the JSE Network and Network strategy is aligned with international network trends
Interact with external users to assist with line implementations, connectivity strategies and troubleshooting
To provide support and assistance in the implementation of JSE project requirements
Provide knowledge transfer and internal hands on training
Research and development of network related products and technologies

 

Experience

CCDA, CCNA Qualifications
5+ years Network Administration
5+ years Cisco expirience in Cisco Technologies

 

Skills

Cisco Network Administration abilities
Candidate must ensure that Cisco qualifications remain current
Routing, Wireless and Switching abilities

Expirience in Microsoft Server and Workstation technologies

Good understanding of network protocols
Leadership Skills
Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well on a team
