Since being established in 2006 ACE SA IT was originally provided by an outsource company (Compliance IT) and in late 2015 it was decided to “in-source” IT as a full-time role in SA in order to provide approximately 50 users with an adequate level of systems and infrastructure support.

The IT Manager is the link between the IT Project, Application and Infrastructure Management Teams based in the Crawley GDC, plus the European/Eurasia & African focused IT function based in London, and the core management, underwriting & support functions in South Africa – managing all IT infrastructures, mobile and land-line voice, systems, applications and related functions in South Africa.

The role is responsible for effectively interfacing with the business and ensuring that IT understands and supports strategy within the guideline of ACE Regional & Global IT strategies and structures.

The role manages all new hardware & software implementations as well as the day-to-day support for 50+ users on PCs, mobile phones, 3G connectivity, voice, internal systems & applications. The role is also responsible for maintaining the Fixed Asset Register and managing all office automation and voice outsource TPA’s. The role is also responsible for Business Continuity as the BC co-ordinator – managing the Business Continuity Plan.

The role is based in Johannesburg. The role will report into the Country President with a matrix into Martin Dixon and has no staff reporting into it.

Key Responsibilities
1.
Project management of new hardware & software implementations – new requests forwarded to correct GDC groups in timely manner, equipment purchased, hardware and software tested, new starters supported & trained
2.
Day-to-day support for 50+ users, including but not limited to on-site assistance, remote assistance and acting as the link between the business and the GDC on PCs, mobile phones, 3G connectivity, voice support, internal systems & applications and training

Maintain the IT Fixed Asset Register and associated assets
4.
Interface regularly and build strong relationships with business to understand IT requirements that support business plans and ensure proper IT budget planning
5.
Support the business on new e-commerce / IT platforms by understanding business requirement, helping to specify functional requirements, investigate the applicability of existing Group IT solutions, manage functional design, manage third party providers and ensure everything is documented and approved through the correct channels
6.
Support the business on MI requirements by understanding business requirements, co-ordinating appropriate reporting with the MI team and ensuring automation and delivery of these reports
7.
Service agreement management of phone and office automation suppliers – SLA performance monitored, failures highlighted, service issues escalated & resolved and remediation & prevention of future occurrences
8.
Maintain open communication and good relationships with Regional IT and ensure technical compliance with regional IT expectations in respect of incident & resolution reporting, software compliance, hardware & software implementation standards and procedures
9.
Fulfil the Business Continuity Planning requirements of the South African office as the BC co-ordinator – participating in regular Steering Committee regional meetings, managing the Business Continuity Plan, annual submission of the Business Continuity Plan and co-ordinating responses to events invoking Business Continuity
